Drinking Ionized Water

Drinking water should have a negative ORP measurement.

The value of ORP quantifies the amount of energy in water by numbering electrons.

ORP values are expressed as millivolts, or mV.]

Drinking water should have a negative mV number of at least -50mV.

Water with an ORP of -50mV will have enough negative ions to attract and neutralize excess acids.

Drinking water should have a pH level at or above 9.5.

pH is the measure of the acidity or alkalinity of a solution. First introduced by Danish chemist S. P. L. Sørensen in 1909, pH stands for "power of hydrogen.

Pure water at 25 °C has an equal concentration of dissolved hydrogen ions (H+) and hydroxide ions (OH-) and is considered "neutral".

pH measures the concentration of hydrogen and hydroxide ions on a scale from 0 to 14, with 7.0 considered neutral.

Solutions with a pH level below 7.0 are acids.

Solutions with a pH level above 7 are bases (alkaline).

The healthy human body contains both acids and bases. The organs maintain the pH of arterial blood between 7.35 and 7.45. To counteract the amount of acids consumed by eating, drinking, and breathing, the body will take alkaline substances from body parts, such as bone. By drinking alkaline water, you are able to counteract the intake of acids and help the body regulate its pH in a more healthy way.

Acidity in the Body

The Western diet is extremely acidic.

Meat (including beef , pork , chicken and turkey ) is acidic.

Dairy (such as milk , butter and cheese ) is acidic.

Grains (such as rice and barley ) are acidic.

Beverages such coffee , tea , and soft drinks are very acidic.

Fruit and fruit juices contain high concentrations of acid.

Simple carbohydrates such as potatoes , pasta , and bread contain large amounts of acids.

Acidity in the body is related to disease.

Acid refluxis a painful condition that occurs when acidic stomach liquid backs up (refluxes) into the esophagus, causing irritation, inflammation and damage to the lining of the esophagus

High cholesterol occurs when the body produces excessive amounts of cholesterol to neutralize large amounts of acids in the blood stream before they damage living cells.

Heart diseaseis the result of a build-up of cholesterol in the coronary arteries that reduces the blood flow to the heart muscle. As stated above, cholesterol forms to product the arterial wall from acidity in the blood.

Fatis produced by the body to trap and neutralize acidic waste in the body. As Dr. Robert O. Young, author of The pH Miracle for Weight Loss , puts it, "The body retains fat as a protection against the overproduction of acids produced by the typical American diet....Your fat is actually saving your life."

Inflammatory related diseases such as allergies, arthritis, fibromyalgia, psoriasis, and even stroke are related to low-grade metabolic acidosis.

Bottled Water Facts

The popularity of bottled water is skyrocketing

Consumption of bottled water in the United States has more than doubled in the last ten years, from 13.5 gallons per person in 1997 to 29.3 gallons per person in 2007.

Bottled water is now second only to carbonated soft drinks in annual sales, with 9.4 billion gallons estimated to be sold in 2008.

Americans will spend $12.5 billion on bottled water in 2008-is it worth it?

Bottled water is not as healthy as many people believe.

25% of bottled water is nothing more than reprocessed municipal water.

22% of bottled water brands tested in one study contained contaminants above state health limits.

Reverse osmosis used to "purify" some bottled water strips everything out of the water- the bad, but also the good. Healthy minerals are eliminated as the natural levels in water are altered and the water is now acidic which can be detrimental to your health.

The pH level of bottled water is not optimal.

While the FDA tests both bottled water for impurities, it is not required to monitor the water's pH level.

Neutral water has a pH balance of 7 and an ideal pH level for drinking water 9.5.

Dr. Robert O. Young tested 60 of the best-known bottle water brands in the world and found that only two had a pH level at or above 9.5, and 30 (including best-known brands such as Fiji, Aquafina, and Perrier) had a pH level below 7.0, meaning they actually are acidic. *1

The age of bottled water affects its pH level, as do changes in temperature and exposure to oxygen.

Plastic bottles harm the environment.

Most plastic water bottles are not recycled. The vast majority (80%) of the 1.5 million tons of plastic used globally each year in water bottles ends up in landfills, since many bottles are consumed on the go, outside the home

The distribution of bottled water by truck and rail burns fossil fuels and results in the release of thousands of tons of harmful emissions.

The filtration and processing of bottled water consumes large amounts of electricity.

The plastic used to make water bottles-polyethylene terephthalate (PET)-is derived from oil and generates 100 times the amount of toxic emissions as the same amount of glass.

The higher the pH level, the ORP (antioxidant level), and mineral content in water, the more benefits the body will receive.

Hydration

Everyone should drink more water.

Thirty-seven% of Americans mistake dehydration for hunger. They eat when they should drink.

You should drink a number of fluid ounces equal to half your body weight. For example, a 200-pound man should drink 100 ounces (about 13 cups) per day; a 120-pound woman should drink 60 ounces (about 8 cups) per day.

Pregnant women should drink a minimum of 80 to 104 fluid ounces per day.

Physical activity increases the need for hydration.

Vigorous exercise for 30 minutes requires at least 16 fluid ounces of rehydration.

Workouts longer than 30 minutes require at least 24 fluid ounces of rehydration.

Water should be consumed before, during, and after each workout.

Caffeine has a dehydrating effect.

Coffee, tea, and many soft drinks contain large amounts of caffeine.

Drinking caffeinated beverages do not hydrate the body.

For every cup of caffeinated beverage, you should drink an additional two cups of water to counteract the dehydrating effects of caffeine beverage.

What is Alkaline Water?

Simply put, alkaline water is plain water that has gone through the process of electrolysis, or ionization. (Alkaline water is sometimes referred to as ionized water.) During this process, the water is split into two streams — alkaline water and acid water.

Before going through this process, ordinary tap water has a neutral pH.

The actual pH of your tap water will vary depending on your location. To find out the condition of your local water supply, you should order a free water analysis report .

During ionization, water is split into acid and an alkaline streams. In the case of a water ionizer, the alkaline stream is dispensed and the acid stream is discarded. (Or if you chose to dispense acid water, then the alkaline water is discarded.)

Another important property of alkaline water is microclustering. Tap water tends to come in large clusters of 10 to 13 molecules. Ionization breaks up these clusters into smaller groups called microclusters. These tiny clusters permeate through cell walls faster, resulting in quicker hydration as well as easy solubility.

Alkaline water is not a chemical, nor does it have any added to it. Alkaline water is simply water with smaller molecules and a higher pH.

What is Acidic Water?

Acidic water (often referred to as electrolyzed water) is water with a potential hydrogen (pH) of less than 7. pH refers to the amount of hydrogen mixed in with the water. pH is measured on a scale from 0 to 14; 7 represents "neutral," where the water is neither alkaline nor acidic; 0 through 7 indicates acidity; and 7 through 14 indicates alkalinity.

Signs of acidic water are:

Blue stains on copper fixtures or pipes

Blue or green stains in tubs or basins

pH test showing less than 7 is considered acidic

A sharp or chlorine smell at the tap

Home water sources have been known to have a pH level of less than 5.5, which many water treatment solutions will not guarantee service for or offer systems to deal with.

Like the Richter scale for measuring earthquake intensity, the pH scale is logarithmic. A solution with a pH of 8.0 is ten times more alkaline than a solution with a pH of 7.0. A solution with a pH of 9.0 is 100 times more alkaline than a solution with a pH of 7.0.

The intake of acidic water along with the acidic foods in the modern diet cause the body to work overtime to maintain the blood pH within the health range. To do so, the body will take alkaline substances from body parts, such as bone. By drinking alkaline water , a person is able to reduce the intake of acids and increase the availability of alkaline minerals, helping the body regulate its pH in a healthier way.

Recent studies of acidic water uses have discovered many home uses; for example a recent patent in Europe has been filed after a study showing acidic waterobtained by electrolysis, is a highly effective treatment of dermatosis in domestic animals when applied or sprayed several times at the initial stages of the dermatosis.[1]

Medical and Dental offices often uses acidic water to destroy micro-organisms, as well as a sterilizing hand wash.

The LIFE Ionizers produce both Alkaline water (for healthy consumption) as well as acidic water. While it has its uses, Humans don’t do well drinking acidic water. However, this doesn't mean acidic water doesn't have its own uses.

Uses of Acidic Water

Although drinking alkaline water is important for optimum health, acidic water also has many beneficial uses as well:

Skin care:

Using acidic water to wash your face can improve the complexion of your skin as it works as a natural astringent and removes dirt and oil without the use of chemicals. Acidic water can also relieve dry and itchy skin, and expedite the healing process of cuts, scrapes, insect bites, rashes, athletes foot, nail fungus, blisters, acne, eczema, bisters, and poison oak/ivy irritation.

Hair Care:

Use acidic water to wash and rinse your hair, as it is great for your scalp and addresses dandruff.

Antiseptic:

Acidic water can be used as an antiseptic for abrasions, cuts, and a mouth wash to assist in removing plauqe from teeth.

Food:

Wash your fruits, vegetables, and meats to effectively kill bacteria.

Plant Care:

Watering your plants and vegetables with acidic water will promote growth and reduce fungus. Cut flowers will last longer in acidic water.
